NSD Inland Port is strategically positioned to service Northwestern BC, Yukon & Alaska and is adjacent CN's main Terrace yard. The site boasts convenient access to the heavy trucking route with links to both Highway 16 (east and west) and Highway 37 (south and north). Currently, CN provides service twice a week, and there are plans to enhance this to a frequency of three times per week. Covering 27 acres, the port is meticulously designed to manage a diverse range of commodities.
“Phase 1” of the site is currently developed and fully operational with existing customers. A master plan is in place to expand dramatically to include additional customers and commodities. All base infrastructure (such as drainage, yard lighting, security fencing, gates, driveways, office, and 8,000’ of track) is constructed and operating.
CROSS DOCKING
Space is preserved for a future 40,000-square-foot cross-dock facility that will offer convenient back-in access for container-on-chassis or van trailer trucks, along with direct dock access for rail cars. The cross-dock has room for two rail spurs, each capable of accommodating six 55’ rail cars, providing a total capacity for 12 cars.
DRY BULK & CONTAINERS
Currently 1 of 3 dry bulk tracks is constructed and the area can be expanded to 3 rail spurs of twelve 42’ rail cars. Future plans include the construction of a bulk storage building with direct conveyor access. Future container handling is also possible from one of these rail spurs.
BREAK-BULK, LUMBER
Future build-out of our break bulk area is designed with a rail spur capable of accommodating center beam rail cars, accompanied by a substantial laydown area. The loading of various commodities such as lumber, steel, logs, etc., is part of the master plan, contingent upon demand.
DANGEROUS GOODS
The west end of our railyard is designed to accommodate dangerous goods. One spur is already dedicated to the transloading of petroleum products and room for an additional two transloading spurs is preserved in our expansion plan.
RAILCAR STORAGE
Currently there is rail car storage for 30 cars, with the ability to expand to 80. We can receive or dispatch cuts of 14 cars at a time from CN with the ability to expand to 24. Service is directly from CN’s Terrace yard, not in encumbering their main line.
SITE ACCESS & COMMON FACILITIES
The site features a private driveway capable of accommodating three full-size trucks waiting to clear the main gate. Access to the main gate is restricted to authorized carriers and electrically monitored and controlled. Once within the fully fenced facility, yard lighting, security cameras, and daily security inspections are all standard features at NSD.
